MAGIC. As a mage, Vivienne learned she possessed the ability to channel magic from a young age, training in the Ostwick Circle before transferring to Montsimmard where she became First Enchanter. Magic in Thedas stems from the Fade, the realm of spirits and dreams and it's a mage's will that shapes how their magic is used. The spells that mages learn typically are those embodying the elements, such as frost, fire or lightning magic but spirit magic, hexes, healing and more are possible schools of magic that can be taught and learned. Though mages can study all forms of magic they typically find some that they excel in or specialise in, with some becoming healers and others having more offensive talents. As First Enchanter of the Circle of Montsimmard and Court Enchanter (aka hbic) Vivienne is incredibly knowledgable and competent in areas of magic -- she has studied from a very young age and was one of the youngest known mages to be made a fully-fledged enchanter. Though she is cautious about magic she has read and studied a lot as a safeguard, to be in control and grow her power.

SPELLS. Vivienne is known to be fond of ice magic, having frozen people that have slighted her or attempted to hurt her in defence along with spirit magic to be able to cast protective barriers and enchantments or to disorient enemies with her willpower. Vivienne is also able to dispel magic from an area, whether it is her own or someone else's magic (positive or negatively effecting), create walls of ice or icy glyphs. She is also skilled with transformative magic, having been known to (in response to a prank) magic snakes into having six legs and returning them to their owner. With her staff as a focus, Vivienne can also direct energy waves or blasts at someone if in combat. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

KNIGHT ENCHANTER. A select group of mages that have studied and specialised in this area of magic, Vivienne is able to create a spirit blade of pure magic as a melee attack, can draw on magic itself to temporarily create a protective cloak of invulnerability and channel spirits to help heal and restore energy and stamina for a short period of time. HEALING. Along with some healing spells that Vivienne knows, both of healing skills and her Knight Enchanter studies, Vivienne is familiar with creating potions and poultices, both of the healing variety and to other effects.
